"The Spirit of Harriet Tubman" Coming to Cheyney University
The Cheyney University Arts and Lectures Series opens its spring 2014 season on Wednesday, February 19th with "The Spirit of Harriet Tubman" at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Marian Anderson Music Center Auditorium.
Actress Leslie McCurdy captivates her audience in this historic drama about Harriet Tubman with only a trunk of costumes and a barren stage as her landscape. Born into slavery in Maryland, Harriet Tubman not only ran away alone to escape slavery, but returned to the south nineteen times to lead over three hundred other slaves to freedom in the northern United States and Canada. Now "The Spirit of Harriet Tubman" returns time and again sharing her story and unable to rest as long as there are those who need guidance.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for youth and non-Cheyney students and are available at www.cheyney.ticketleap.com or at the box office one hour before the program. Refunds and exchanges are not permitted. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the start time and parking is free.
Admission is free for Cheyney faculty, staff and students with ID. For more information, call 610-399-2365.
Please Note: All programs are subject to change or cancellation.
The Arts and Lectures Series is sponsored by a grant Strengthening Historically Black Colleges and Universities (Title III).
