Xavier University of Louisiana: Scholarly Communication & Instruction Librarian

Xavier University of Louisiana, a historically Black and Catholic University, seeks an enthusiastic professional for the position of Scholarly Communication and Instruction Librarian. This is a 12-month non-tenure-track faculty position. This individual will be primarily responsible for the planning, implementation, assessment, and promotion of a Library-led campus-wide institutional repository; designing, teaching and assessing information literacy curricula in a variety of disciplines; providing research consultations to students, faculty and staff; and, working collaboratively across the Library to support various initiatives including open access, open educational resources, digital humanities, the maintenance of a culture of assessment and improvement, and the re-envisioning of the Reference and Access Services model.

Required Qualifications for this position include:

  •    A Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution;
    
  •    At least 3-5 years of experience with managing and supervising staff and/or librarians;
    
  •    Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills;
    
  •    Effective analytical, problem-solving, communication, project management and interpersonal skills;
    
  •    Knowledge of and experience with current and emerging technologies;
    
  •    Experience with information literacy programs supporting critical thinking skills and a variety of course, department, and campus level outcomes;
    
  •    Experience working with an institutional repository, developing policies and procedures;
    
  •    Experience with delivering workshops and/or presentations on scholarly communications, copyright, author's rights and open access in an academic setting; and
    
  •    Experience with metadata creation, including XML-based and bibliographic standards.
