WVSU to Host Creative and Performing Arts 4-H Camp June 27-29

West Virginia State University (WVSU) Extension Service is hosting a free 4-H Creative and Performing Arts day camp for youth ages 9 to 16 June 27-29 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the East End Family Resource Center in Charleston.

Participants can choose among a variety of tracks relating to photography, videography, music production and culinary arts, receiving hands-on instruction led by local industry experts.

"This camp provides youth the opportunity for artistic expression in a low-key, non-competitive environment," said 4-H Extension Agent Kaysha Moreno. "We want to help them discover their passion and find their creative voice, whether in the music studio or the kitchen."

The camp's track list is as follows:

  • Digital Photography: Learn to use the latest technology to develop and hone creative photography skills. Topics include using digital cameras and manipulating images with Photoshop.
  • Culinary Arts: Explore the secrets of cooking and receive valuable insight into culinary arts. Activities include orientation to kitchen equipment, good baking techniques and food presentation.
  • Videography: Learn to write, edit and shoot short films, documentaries, music videos, animation and video art.
  • Music Production: Record music and make CDs, having full control over mixing and editing in a modern studio setting.
Registration is required by contacting Kaysha Moreno at (304) 204-4009 or morenokt@wvstateu.edumailto:morenokt@wvstateu.edu. Additional details and an application is available online at wvstateu.edu/extensionhttp://www.wvstateu.edu/extension.
