Dr. Kevin D. Rome Named President of Lincoln University
Jefferson City, MO- The Lincoln University Board of Curators announced today that Dr. Kevin D. Rome will be the 19th President of Lincoln University. Dr. Rome was named President after a nine month-long search process that included candidate screenings and interviews by a Presidential Search Committee. The Lincoln University Presidential Search Committee consisted of LU alumni, faculty, staff, students, stakeholders, Missouri Legislators and members of the Mid-Missouri community. The Presidential Search Committee was assisted by The Hollins Group, Executive Recruiting Consultants.
Dr. Rome will begin his term as President of Lincoln University on June 1, 2013. He currently serves as Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina. A position he has held since 2008.
Dr. Rome served as Vice President for Student Services at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, from 2005-2008; Vice President for Campus Life at Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia, from 2004-2005; and as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Life and Diversity at Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis, Indiana, from 2001-2004.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Morehouse College, Atlanta, Georgia; the Masters of Education from The University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia; and the Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin, Austin, Texas.
Dr. Connie Hamacher will continue to serve as Interim President of Lincoln University until May 31, 2013.
