Texas Southern University Is Honored With National Awards
Texas Southern University's Office of Marketing and Communication is the recipient of three gold awards in the 2014/2015 Collegiate Advertising Awards Program, ranking them among the top in the nation. The Collegiate Advertising Awards (CAA) is an elite program recognizing higher education organizations for excellence in communications, marketing, advertising and promotions of their schools.
Gold medals were won by TSU in the specialty category for the university's presentation of the national gospel stage play CROWNS during The 2014 HATS and TIES initiative; in Single Billboard Design category for the Michael Strahan - I Am TSU billboard; and thirdly, for the submission of the radio ad marketing the Barbara Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs by Dr. Michael Adams and the Department of Political Science in the Barbara Jordan - Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs.
"We are super excited that our hard work is paying off and doubly excited that we are being recognized as one of the best in our industry in the country," states Eva Pickens, Marketing and Communication associate vice president. "We always thought we were measuring up, just never had the time to complete all of the necessary paperwork to be judged professionally. I'm glad we took the time this year to enter.  We didn't enter the contest just for the sake of receiving awards, even though that's a nicety. We entered to determine how we compared to other professionals in our field of advertising, marketing, media relations and communications. We measure up just fine. We are appreciative of the university and its leadership in allowing us to take the lead in being creative and innovative. This industry forever and quickly changes and the team in Marketing and Communication are committed to staying current with the trends and technology that allow us to continue to work to protect and promote the brand of the university."
"The faculty and staff of the Department of Political Science in the Barbara Jordan - Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs are proud and honored to know that our commitment to promoting access to a quality, affordable college education in our community and nationwide has been recognized and appreciated by our peers in education," said Dr. Michael Adams, interim chair, Department of Political Science. I am proud of all we do at Texas Southern University to manifest "Excellence in Achievement." We definitely thank President Rudley and the University's administration for their support of our endeavors.
The 2014/2015 CAA program had more than 900 entries from across the United States representing a diverse plethora of educational facilities from small community colleges to very large schools & universities.
Awards were issued for entries that received top marks from judges placing them in the top 16% of the nation for educational advertising excellence. Judging criteria included creativity, layout and design, functionality, message effectiveness, production quality and overall appeal.
Representing all areas of communications, medias, marketing, advertising and promotions, the 2014/2015 Collegiate Advertising Awards program contained some of the best advertising projects arguably in the world. The Collegiate Advertising Awards is pleased to recognize the outstanding creative achievements of [Your Organization's Name Here].
