Virginia State University News April 21, 2014 VSU student honored as a University Innovation Fellow Ulysses S. Knight, III of Phoenixville, PA, a Virginia State University Project Management master's degree candidate, has completed training to join the University Innovation Fellows, a national program that empowers student leaders to bring more entrepreneurial activity to their campuses. Knight joins a national network of 110 University Innovation Fellows from 78 schools across the country. Knight obtained his B.S. degree in Business Management with a minor in International Business from VSU as well. As an undergraduate, he studied abroad in Shanghai, China, focusing on International Business in a Chinese Market and Chinese Culture & Language. His extensive leadership involvement granted him the opportunity to advance innovation, entrepreneurship, and creativity at VSU as a University Innovation Fellow, affiliated with Stanford University and NCIIA. Currently, Knight is a research assistant in the Department of Engineering, working with a solar panel system project to expand solar panel usage throughout the campus. Also, he is a Graduate Recruiting Assistant in the Office of Graduate Admissions. Some of his past work includes Economic Development, Business Development, Real Estate Development, Urban and Regional Planning and Property Management. The University Innovation Fellows program is run by Epicenter, funded by the National Science Foundation and directed by Stanford University and the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance. Epicenter's mission is to empower U.S. undergraduate engineering students to bring their ideas to life for the benefit of the country's economy and society. Epicenter helps students combine their technical skills and their ability to develop innovative technologies to solve important problems with an entrepreneurial mindset and skillset. SANDRA M.
