More than $40,000 donated for math and science education

Today, the ExxonMobil Foundation presented the College of Engineering with a check for $41,400 to help support math and science education. The funds are part of a 3-to-1 matching fund drive for the foundation's 2013 Educational Matching Gift Program. ExxonMobil employees, retirees and surviving spouses made the donations.

Dr. Robert Douglass, an alumnus and senior section supervisor at ExxonMobil, presented the check. This gift brings ExxonMobil's cumulative total of donations to Tuskegee University to $375,075, according to Dr. Legand Burge, dean of the College of Engineering.

"The ExxonMobil Foundation is working to improve U.S. math and science education by supporting programs that benefit both students and teachers," Burge said. "Our funds are directed accordingly; particularly for professional development, attracting students to math and science and supporting programs that encourage women and minorities to become scientists and engineers."
