CCC Career and Technical Education Receives New Computers
Students in Coahoma Community College's Division of Career and Technical Education now have the latest in computer equipment and software thanks to a recent computer upgrade.
Several of the Division's programs have received state-of-the-art computers that feature updated operating systems and software. The recent upgrade was made possible through state funds that are allotted each year for technology improvements. In addition, the funding helped furnish new equipment in the Division's Automotive Technology program.
Anne Clark, Vice President of Career and Technical Education, said the division's computers are updated periodically to ensure that CCC students have access to up-to-date computers and software.
"It's our custom to upgrades computers periodically to ensure that we're keep up with the ever changing world of technology," said Clark.
The upgrade included 20 new computers in the Business Office Technology computer labs as well as 8 new computers for the Cosmetology program, both located in the Lee Flowers Building. Other areas in the Division that received new computers include the Childcare lab, the Computer Servicing Technology lab, the Industrial Maintenance lab, Special Populations and Counseling.
Instructors like Bobbie Deshazer, who teaches courses in the Business Office Technology program, said that the upgrade is a huge plus for students who will need computer skills in their respective fields.
"It's imperative that we have sufficient technology due to the nature of the jobs our students are seeking, such as office management and other administrative positions," said Deshazer. "It's all about preparing our students for this technological society that we live in."
