Position: Information Literacy/Reference Librarian

Tuskegee University Library Services invites applications to fill a position as a librarian beginning June 1, 2013. The candidate must have the ability to use an automated library system, possess good organizational skills, have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. (This is a full-time position)
Overall Job Objective
Under the general supervision of the Head of Reference Services, will provide information literacy instruction and reference services to students and faculty at Tuskegee University.
Duties and Responsibilities
This position will coordinate "specialized instruction" programming, which includes activities such as orientation, course related bibliographic instruction and in-house training
Develop information literacy classes for undergraduate and graduate students
Collect statistics
Serve on the Collection Development Committee
Provide reference and research assistance to library patrons and staff
Understand and use subscription databases and the book collection in search of materials that meet the user's needs
Assist in the development and design of marketing information services to the Tuskegee University Community
Collaborate with library faculty in developing, implementing and assessing new instructional initiatives
Evaluate new products and services for possible use in the library
Work with the Head of Reference Services to customize databases to maximize usability for Tuskegee University students, faculty and staff
Other
Librarians also serve as liaisons to specific departments, providing collection development and outreach to faculty
Perform related duties as required. Some evening/weekend hours involved
Required qualifications:
Master of Library Services(MLS) from an ALA accredited institution; at least one year of teaching experience or library experience at a professional level; working knowledge of a wide variety of electronic reference databases/ Internet; and excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills

Commensurate with training, experience, and University Compensation Plan
