Shaw Receives UNCF Mini-Grant to Host UNCF/Mellon Learning Institute

Drs. Mercy Fapojuwo, Desire' Baloubi, and Kandace Harris have received a $30,000 United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Mini-Grant to host a UNCF/Mellon Teaching and Learning Institute Program - "Using Social Networks to Enhance Writing Across the Curriculum" at Shaw University on May 25-26, 2012.

The purpose of the learning institute is to train and encourage faculty participants to engage students through the use of social media forms (such as Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr) in writing-intensive courses to satisfy writing across the curriculum (WAC) and writing in the discipline (WID) objectives.

Faculty members from UNCF Institutions Allen University, Saint Augustine's College, Benedict College, Bennett College, Claftin University, Johnson C. Smith University, Livingstone College, Morris College, Voorhees College, Virginia Union, Shaw University, and Tougaloo College are encouraged to apply.
