Virginia State University is excited to announce that the VSU Hospitality Management Department is among the best programs of its kind. The accrediting agency for the department, the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA), has been formally recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

"This new parent accreditation indicates that our APCHA-accredited department is ranked among the nation's gold standard of hospitality programs," said Dr. Berkita Bradford, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Hospitality Management. "We are excited that APCHA reaffirmed our program in 2019 and that CHEA has affirmed APCHA for their standards of excellence."

The CHEA recognition is to assure the public that accrediting organizations are competent to engage in quality reviews of institutions and programs based on the standards CHEA has developed. CHEA was established by college and university presidents to affirm the quality of peer review, formative evaluation, and a mission-based approach to judging higher education, as well as placing primary emphasis on quality improvement.

Virginia State University is one of approximately 70 domestic and international programs currently accredited by ACPHA.
