Howard University to Host Third TEDXHowardUniversity

The Howard University Office of the Provost for Research and Graduate Studies is sponsoring its third TEDxHowardUniversity event on September 14, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. in the Armour J. Blackburn University Center Ballroom, 2397 Sixth Street, NW, Washington, DC 20059.
The theme of the event is "All Things Glorious." Topics will include innovative ways to address the worldwide dilemma of mass incarceration, especially among African American males; exciting new NASA discoveries, the intellectual impact of technology, and reimagining the revolution of advertising.

Speakers will include Howard University President Wayne A.I. Frederick; Washington, DC Civil Rights Attorney and Community Activist Donald Temple, Howard University Assistant Professor of Sociology Bahiyyah Muhammed, Howard University Alumna and NASA Aerospace Engineer Aprille Ericsson and Howard University Assistant Professor of Strategic Communications Dr. Joanna Jenkins.

Entertainment will include performances by Common & Afro-Blue, the Howard University Andrew Rankin Chapel Choir. Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. for seating in advance of filming. Registration will be online at www.eventbrite.comhttp://www.eventbrite.com/ or www.gs.howard.eduhttp://www.gs.howard.edu.

In the spirit of spreading new ideas, TED began in 1984 as a conference where technology, entertainment and design converged. Today, topics range from science to business to global issues - in more than 100 languages. Independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world. The organization passionately believes in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and, ultimately, the world.

Established in January 2015, TEDxHowardUniversity is an independently organized platform to network, discuss and share with a multicultural, diverse audience "ideas worth spreading." The event also is an opportunity to share these ideas with a global audience of residents, scholars, and students of the Washington area's consortium of colleges and universities, including the Howard University community, as well as the international visitors to the nation's capital, the economic, political, and cultural center of the world.
