Edward Waters College News March 2016 Ron Davis Speaks to Students: Promotes Jordan Davis' Legacy Ron Davis, father of slain Jacksonville teen Jordan Davis, spoke to Edward Waters College students during the institution's chapel service Wednesday, March 2nd. Chapel service is held at 11:00 a.m. every Wednesday in the Adams-Jenkins Sports and Music Complex. On November 23, 2012, 17-year-old Jordan Davis was shot and killed at gas station after an altercation with 47-year-old Michael Dunn over loud music. Dunn was charged with first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole. The documentary "3 ½ Minutes, Ten Bullets" examines the shooting, subsequent trial, and the impact of the effects on the Davis family. "3 ½ Minutes, Ten Bullets" has won an award at the Sundance Film Festival and has been shown around the world including a screening at the White House. Edward Waters College will also show the documentary at a later date. Ron Davis has been speaking to college students at all of Florida's historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) about his son and the impact his death has had on his family and community. He encouraged the college students to "get involved in the election process and in social issues that interest them because they will be the ones to change the world." SANDRA M.
