Howard University News August 25, 2016 Rev. Waltrina N. Middleton Appointed As the Associate Dean of the Historic Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel The Office of the Dean of Chapel would like to extend a warm welcome to Rev. Waltrina N. Middleton on her appointment as the Associate Dean of the historic Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel at Howard University. Rev. Middleton comes to Howard from the United Church of Christ, where she served as the national minister for Youth Advocacy and Leadership Formation and the program director for the National Youth Event. Rev. Middleton has been actively engaged in social justice issues domestically and internationally and has been sought after to share her vision and message of faith, love and justice in diverse settings, which include: World Council of Churches Forum on Peace and Justice in Trondheim, Norway; National Council of Churches; The Carter Center; Coalition of Black Trade Unionists; and as a part of a United Nations delegation addressing U.S. drug policies and mass incarceration. The Center for American Progress most recently declared Rev. Middleton as one of the "16 to Watch in 2016," and Rejuvenate Magazine recognized her as one of its "40 Under 40 Professionals to Watch in Non-Profit Religious Sector." While earning a Master of Divinity at the Chicago Theological Seminary, where she graduated with distinction, Rev. Middleton was the inaugural Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. Fellowship Scholar and one of the inaugural William "Bill" Lucy Social Justice and Globalization Fellows. She is also a proud alumna of Howard University (B.A. 2002), and DePaul University (M.S. 2007). It is with great excitement to have Rev. Middleton return to Howard University and contribute to the larger Howard Community in her new role as the Associate Dean the Chapel. SANDRA M.
