Subject: [EXTERNAL] Reminder - Archiving the Black Web Survey

Hello and Happy New Year!

The Broward County African American Research Library and Cultural Center is conducting a survey of Black collecting institutions to better understand web archiving practices and the current state of web archive collections. This survey is part of the Archiving the Black Web National Forum that was funded by the Institute for Museum and Library Services in 2020. Other partners on this project include Shift Collective, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, Spelman College Archives, Auburn Avenue Research Library, Langston Hughes Community Library and Cultural Center, and the African American Museum and Library at Oakland. Please read more about the funded project on the IMLS award pagehttps://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.imls.gov/grants/awarded/lg-246398-ols-20__;!!ATJcLOt_!mIiNVUyos_SZzJ-tbI3am2vDeglMQ6Q3B5tURtjF5rBRTstJ3w5lOlTkIyR0EzD0rwA$.

This survey will take no more than 10 minutes to complete. The survey will ask you about your organization, your web archiving collections and practices, your knowledge of web archiving tools, and your organization's interest in staff training and joining a collaborative group of Black collecting organizations interested in web archiving.

We sincerely appreciate your time. This survey and project is being led by Black memory workers and is the first ever attempt to try to understand the landscape of web archiving at Black centered/collecting organizations.

The survey will close January 31, 2021. Please feel free to share this survey with libraries and archives that represent HBCU's as well as Black collecting public libraries and cultural heritage institutions.

If there are any questions about completing the survey, please send an email to Makiba Foster (MJFOSTER@broward.orgmailto:MJFOSTER@broward.org) and Bergis Jules (bergis.jules@shiftcollective.usmailto:bergis.jules@shiftcollective.us)
