Cheyney among State System Universities to Offer Online Courses over Holiday Break

The holidays are coming and you know what that means. Sure, plenty of food, friends and parties, but it's also a chance to catch up on your college credits, or even to get a little bit ahead.
All 14 universities within Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education, including Cheyney University, offer an accelerated winter session where students have a chance to take a course or two while on break between the fall and spring semesters. Cheyney's Winterim Session is four weeks long. Collectively, the schools will offer more than 600 courses online, which means you can sign up for and take a class from virtually anywhere, no matter where you are spending that break. And you don't have to be a regularly enrolled student at Cheyney or a student at all in order to take the course.
"We are excited to offer our second Winterim Term. Winterim is a great opportunity for students to enroll in an online or activity course to help them stay on course to graduate in four years," shared Dr. Phyllis Worthy Dawkins, Acting President, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. She worked with faculty last fall to initiate the first Winter term for Cheyney University.
The ability to take classes online and to transfer credits to and from virtually any of the 14 State System universities allows students to choose from a much broader array of courses. And that course selection list has been getting longer every year. A list of the courses offered and other important information about Cheyney's Winterim is available at www.cheyney.edu/admissions/Winter.cfmhttp://www.cheyney.edu/admissions/Winter.cfm.
Students attending any of the 14 State System universities can sign up for a class or two either at their "home" university or at any of the other schools. Students from universities outside of the System can sign up as well, but those students should check with their home institution to confirm the credits they earn will transfer.
"Winter session is a great way for students to complete curriculum requirements outside of the standard academic semesters. Careful academic planning in collaboration with academic advisors can help students complete degree requirements in a timely manner," explained Dr. Donna Parker, Dean of Faculty and Academic Schools.
Cheyney's winter-session courses begin December 15 and run through January 8. All courses are online with the exception of some physical education classes which will be offered at Cheyney's Center City Philadelphia location at 701 Market Street. These courses provide an opportunity for students to meet their degree activity requirements.
