Benedict College in Partnership with Blaze Fire Games will participate in the Super Bowl LV, the 55th Super Bowl 2021 Ascend HBCU ESports Conference and Career Expo

Congratulations to Dr. Paula Shelby from Benedict College for being nominated to be a speaker for the 2021 ASCEND HBCU Esports Conference and Career Expo.  This global event, which will be hosted virtually on Friday, February 5, 2021, during the NFL Super Bowl weekend, is the first of its kind to be hosted in a blockchain ecosystem.

The 2021 ASCEND HBCU Esports Conference and Career Expo will enable HBCU students, faculty, staff, and constituents from across the world to ASCEND- an acronym for Accessing Sources to Catalyze Esports/Gaming Needs & Address Diversity.  This conference will provide them with opportunities to gain insight into the Esports and Gaming industries through their interaction with industry executives.

Dr. Shelby is currently the Chair of the Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Department at Benedict College and is over the Sport Management, Public Health, and Recreation academic programs. She is a tenured Associate Professor and serves as the Benedict College Esports Academic Commissioner, an Esports Team Coach, the Benedict College Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Faculty Athletics Representative, and the President of the Benedict Athletic Committee.  She will share some Esports' academic preparation strategies, and her personal experiences working and taking Benedict College students to work several Super Bowl games and special events.  Dr. Shelby's topic is Esports & Gaming in Academia/Higher Education.
