Norfolk State University seeks a forward looking and results oriented leader for the position of Systems Librarian.

Responsibilities:

This position will provide leadership and expertise related to the Integrated Library System (ILS) and technologies that increase and enhance access to academic resources. The Systems Librarian maintains and updates the library's website; maintains the library's network stability and integrity; provides PC hardware and software support; prepares user documentation, and performs system upgrades, verifications and backups. The position responds to ILS inquiries from patrons and staff and manages all electronic research database subscription accounts and implements new optional features. The position conducts database training for the library staff, maintains interlibrary loan technology, and maintains public computer stations. He/she also develops online services customized specifically for the Lyman Beecher Brooks Library, compiles and submits quarterly and annual reports of library systems department activities to the Dean of Library Services and serves as part of the senior management team. The System Librarian serves on library and university wide committees. Oversees the work of one IT department staff member. This is a faculty appointment.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited Library school. At least 2 years of progressively responsible experience in IT administration and management along with evidence of systems and technology related coursework. Further, applicants must have work experience with an integrated library system, preferably Innovative Millennium; demonstrated project management experience; knowledge of library document delivery systems and work with databases and other current and emerging technologies. Supervisory experience is a plus.
