Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) announced she secured $2 million to fund the opening of the Atlanta University Center Consortium (AUCC) Center for Excellence in Public Service. The Center will train students from AUCC member undergraduate institutions of Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, & Spelman College for a wide range of public service careers. When finished, the Atlanta University Center Consortium Center for Excellence in Public Service will be the first center of its kind at a Historically Black College and University.

Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) shared, "The Atlanta University Center Consortium Center for Excellence in Public Service will teach the next generation of Black excellence entering public service. The leaders that have come out of the Atlanta University Center have changed our city, our nation, and the world. That's what the Center is about, whatever that your path of public service looks like, there's a program for you at the Atlanta University Center Consortium for Excellence in Public Service."

Dr. Michael Hodge, Executive Director of the Atlanta University Center Consortium said he is pleased to receive this wonderful support, creating a pipeline of students credentialed to meet the needs of a diverse public service corps for the 21st century-at scale.

"The Center is a major step toward ensuring diversity and inclusion within the leadership of the public workforce. The Center positions itself to provide for the nation's security by fostering innovative thoughts, ideas, and solutions in addressing our most pressing public problems. We thank Rep. Nikema Williams for being our champion and for leading her team in crafting legislation to found the AUCC Center for Excellence in Public Service," Hodge said.
