Savannah State hosts regional science fair
The Savannah State University (SSU) College of Sciences and Technology (COST) and STEM 360 will host the 2020 Savannah Regional Science and Engineering Fair (RSEF) February 4-6, 2020. The regional fair gives students a setting to develop important critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, teamwork and personal management skills, which are essential in today's fast-paced technological society.
The 2020 fair will include middle and high school students from Bryan, Bulloch, Candler, Chatham, Effingham, Emanuel, Evans, Glynn, Jenkins, Liberty, Long, Screven, Tattnall, Toombs and Wayne counties.
The Savannah Regional Science and Engineering Fair is one of 22 regional fairs that take place throughout the state at the beginning of each calendar year. The top 15 percent of winners move on to compete at the Georgia Science Engineering Fair and possibly the International Science and Engineering Fair.
STEM 360, a component of the SSU COST Outreach & Career Development Office, complements the COST mission by generating awareness and participation in STEM - science, technology, engineering and mathematics - disciplines. The goal is to build an infrastructure that contributes to the retention, education and graduation of underrepresented minorities in the STEM subjects in the greater Savannah and surrounding areas.
