Clark Atlanta University News March 16, 2018 CAU to Host NASA Technology Infusion Road Tour, Small Business Summit for HBCUs, MSIs, and Local Entrepreneurs Clark Atlanta University (CAU) President Ronald A. Johnson today announced the University's partnership with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to host the NASA's Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and Minority Institutions (MIs) Technology Infusion Road Tour on March 27-28, and the Small Business Summit, March 29. Both events will take place in the University's Henderson Student Center, 223 James P. Brawley Dr. S.W. Atlanta, GA 30314. The events are free and open to the public but require advance registration. "This forum constitutes a prime opportunity for the nation's HBCUs and MSIs to connect with experts who can share crucial information about how to engage with NASA in ways that can significantly fortify their current STEM programming and, more important, can help them to elevate the scope and capacity of their long-term STEM programming strategies to produce STEM graduates who are even more competitive in a global marketplace that is constantly evolving. NASA's Office of Small Business Programs in Washington D.C. in collaboration with the Agency's Space Technology Mission Directorate, Science Mission Directorate and Office of Education are presenting the Road Tour so that HBCUs and MIs can learn program fundamentals and ways to pursue procurement and technical opportunities with NASA, other government agencies and their aerospace industry partners. The Road Tour also provides an open platform for HBCU and MI representatives to learn about NASA's Mentor-Protégé (MPP) Program, as well as Small Business Innovative Research/Small Business Technical Transfer Opportunities, in addition to NASA grant and cooperative agreement opportunities. "NASA is the only agency that has a 1% goal to do business with HBCUs and minority institutions. Across the agency, we are striving to find new opportunities to engage these organizations in our industrial base," said Glenn Delgado, Associate Administrator for NASA's Office of Small Business Programs at NASA Headquarters. "We are grateful to Clark Atlanta University for providing us such a platform to network with these institutions and we look forward to infusing the technology HBCUs/MIs offer into our various missions." CAU's Dennis Kimbro, Ph.D., acclaimed author and champion of personal and community wealth-building, will deliver the keynote address at the NASA Small Business Summit, which takes place on Thursday, March 29, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Clark Atlanta University's Henderson Student Center. The event is designed to share information on small businesses can secure and participate in the agency's prime contracts and subcontracts. In addition to outlining how to do business with NASA, the Summit will highlight agency programs, including: Small Disadvantaged Businesses, Historically Underutilized Business Zones, Women-Owned Small Businesses, Veteran-Owned Small Businesses and Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses; and HBCUs and MIs. Participants will have an opportunity to network with NASA prime contractors and other Federal Government Agencies throughout the day.
