Central State University Library Position: Cataloging/Reference Librarian
Academic Rank: Assistant Professor, or above - Tenure Track
Reports to Library Director

Position Summary

The Central State University Library invites applications for a Cataloging/Reference Librarian in the Hallie Q. Brown Memorial Library. The cataloger will perform original and copy cataloging for a variety of formats; provide leadership and oversight of cataloging policy development and implementation; participate in collection development; provide a leadership role for reviewing and implementing new cataloging trends; participate in budget preparation and developing annual goals and objectives; work with head of systems and technical services staff; prepare monthly cataloging statistics and departmental reports; participate in the delivery of reference instruction, including staffing the reference desk, and participate in professional activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1.  Master's degree from an American Library Association-accredited library school.
    
  2.  At least three (3) years' experience as a cataloger in an academic library and one  (1) year experience of original cataloging.
    

Required Qualifications:

  1.  Working knowledge of AACR2, RDA, metadata standards, MARC input standards, Dewey and LC classification schedules.
    
  2.  Experience with Innovative Interfaces Integrated Library System
    
  3.  Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    
  4.  Understanding and experience with the application of current technology in a library and other instructional settings
    
  5.  Demonstrated knowledge of new and emerging technologies and their application in an academic library
    
  6.  Excellent organizational, analytical and time management skills.
    
  7.  Demonstrated ability for attention to detail.
    
  8.  Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work alone and collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
    
  9.  Commitment to professional development and service.
    

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications
