Co-sponsored by the University, First State Community Action, Philanthropy Delaware and Share Delaware, the event featured a "Poverty Simulation," an inactive immersion experience that put the participants in the role of the low-income families and sensitized them to the realities of the situations and roadblocks they face.

The symposium also featured keynote speaker Lillian Singh, vice president of Prosperity Now, Racial Wealth Equity, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people - especially people of color and those of limited income, to achieve financial security, stability, and ultimately prosperity. Ms. Singh spoke on the topic of "Addressing Poverty, Racial Wealth and Equality in Delaware."
