New Dean to Head Bowie State's College of Professional Studies
Veteran Administrator Brings Diverse Higher Education Knowledge, Experience

Bowie State University announces the appointment of Dr. Jerome H. Schiele as the new dean of the College of Professional Studies, effective Jan. 3, 2012.

Former associate dean of the School of Social Work at the University of Georgia (UG), Schiele also served in various administrative roles at Clark Atlanta University, Norfolk State University, Morgan State University and the State University of New York at Stony Brook.  His most recent position included management of four academic programs and oversight of 500 students and 60 faculty and staff at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

"I very much look forward to working with the students, faculty and staff at Bowie State and to help build on the outstanding tradition of the College of Professional Studies and the University," said Schiele.

Schiele has extensive experience in fiscal and curriculum management, assessment, planning and resource development. While at UGA, Schiele led the School of Social Work's Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) reaccreditation efforts and coordinated the School's assessment component of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) reaffirmation activities. He also has experience with web-based and online curriculum delivery.

Schiele has a bachelor's in sociology from Hampton University and earned both his master's and doctoral degree in social work at Howard University.

Bowie State University's College of Professional Studies houses four departments including various programs in psychology, nursing, social work and behavioral sciences and human services. For more information, click here.
