MSM Greets 2nd Class of 100 M.D. Students

They came from 50 undergraduate institutions in 14 states across the country, representing 34 different undergraduate degree programs. They are the Morehouse School of Medicine M.D. Class of 2022, the second consecutive class to travel the "Road to 100"http://www.msm.edu/roadto100/ students.

MSM welcomed the newest class to orientation today, the first step on a long but ultimately rewarding journey. Make no mistake though, it will be challenging. As Dr. Ngozi Anachebe, associate dean, Medical Education, Admissions and Student Affairs, noted during her introduction, "hard work is not optional."

Here is how the class looks, by the numbers:

  • Males/Females: 52/48
  • Georgia/Out of State: 63/37
  • 14 states represented: Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington
  • 15 students have a Master of Science degree
  • 34 undergraduate majors represented, including 46 students who majored in biology
  • 50 undergraduate institutions represented including:
    *  University of Georgia - 17 students
    *  Georgia State - 13
    *  Emory - 7
    *  University of Florida - 5
    *  University of South Florida - 4
    *  3 each from Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, Spelman
    *  2 each from Georgia Southern, Howard, Morehouse
