Beginning fall 2014[http://lgimages.s3.amazonaws.com/data/imagemanager/82859/msrc_logo__2_.jpg]http://www.howard.edu/msrc, the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center (MSRC) at Howard Universityhttp://www.howard.edu/msrc, one of the largest repositories of archival materials relating to the history and culture of people of African descent throughout the Diaspora, will be awarding up to eight (8) of its inaugural Mellon/Moorland Travel-to-Collections Grantshttp://library.howard.edu/content.php?pid=485081&sid=4845571#17906880.

With funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Friends of Moorland-Spingarn, the Travel-to-Collections program provides up to $2,500 to support research in African American, African, and African Diasporan Studies that would benefit from access to the MRSC's extensive collectionshttp://www.howard.edu/msrc/manuscripts_processed.html.

Faculty members, graduate students, and independent scholars who are not affiliated with Howard University are eligible to apply. Applicants must live at least 100 miles from Howard University's Washington, DC, campus. The deadline for applications is June 2, 2014; awards will be announced on June 13, 2014.
