FAMU Veteran Inducted into the Florida Hall of Fame

FAMU salutes our Rattler veterans on this special day. A special salute goes to Col. (Ret.) Washington Sanchez, who was inducted into the Florida Veterans' Hall of Fame by Governor Rick Scott on Nov. 9.

Sanchez is a member of the FAMU Class of '64 and was commissioned into the Army through FAMU's ROTC Program. He is heralded as an "overall, incredible leader who continues to contribute to the betterment of this nation."

Sanchez  is a Vietnam veteran and Purple Heart recipient whose countless, inexhaustible volunteer hours supporting veterans in need has earned him statewide honors. A respected leader in the Military Order of the Purple Heart, he serves as chairman and CEO of the non-profit Florida Veterans Foundation, which provides emergency assistance to veterans in crisis.
