North Carolina Central University News November 2016 NCCU Alumna Named Leader of Akron Urban League The Akron Urban League has named NCCU alumna Sadie Winlock as the organization's president following a national search. Board leaders chose Winlock for the post in August 2016, citing her outstanding organizational skills, business acumen and executive experience. Winlock has held several senior executive leadership roles with Allstate Insurance Co., including leading offices in North Carolina, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. During her tenure at Allstate, she played a significant role in the achievement of regional goals. After early retirement from Allstate, Winlock developed a business-consulting firm with clients including the District of Columbia Chamber of Commerce, the Army National Guard and other federal agencies. Winlock was most recently chief operating officer at the YWCA Greater Cleveland, where she managed corporate and individual fundraising, among other duties. In her last role at the YWCA Greater Cleveland, she successfully implemented the agency's strategic plan and was influential in adopting a program that enhanced the focus of the agency's mission of "eliminating racism" called "It's Time to Talk". She holds a bachelor's degree in English from NCCU, an MBA from Myers University and a doctorate in management from the University of Phoenix. SANDRA M.
