Shaw University Names Dillard Interim President

Shaw University vice-president for academic affairs, Dr. Paulette Dillard, was announced Monday as the interim president of the historically Black institution. Shaw is conducting a search for its next president following the resignation of Dr. Tashni -Ann Dubroy earlier this month to become an executive vice president and chief operating officer at Howard University.

The Board of Trustees called Dillard, who also has served as department chair and dean, "the right fit" to continue positive institutional gains in academic realignment, community outreach, and university partnerships.

"I look forward to working with the Board to plot continued success in our areas of strength, and to visualize new opportunities to grow Shaw's brand in workforce development and community support," Dillard said in Monday's news release.

Dubroy, who took the reins as Shaw's president in 2015, has been credited with increasing its enrollment and reinvigorating the university's fundraising efforts.
