Youth Empowerment Summit features financial, business and lifestyle experts
The Tuskegee University Cooperative Extension Program is hosting a youth empowerment summit on Nov. 18-19 at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center. The event, themed, "Utilizing Youth Potential for Better Community-Building," is designed for middle, high school and collegiate students as a follow-up and component of youth development and 4-H curricula.
The conference's goal is to educate and motivate youth to understand and accept what is required to engage in productive lifestyles, and become responsible and caring citizens. Through a series of interactive workshop sessions on healthy lifestyles, teen leadership, and entrepreneurship, youth participants will have increased awareness; develop and build life skills; and be motivated to become young entrepreneurs, youth extension paraprofessionals, and serve their communities as youth volunteers and leaders.
Speakers include author and producer Ray Charles Robinson Jr., the oldest son of music icon Ray Charles; Margarita Anderson, founder and CEO of The Empowerment Experiment, which promotes quality black business; and André Taylor, author and contributor to ABC News' "Money Matters."
