Alumni Contribute Over $480k in Donations
Eleven alumni classes demonstrated their support of the university by contributing $484, 802 to their Alma Mater. The combined donations were presented to the university during Alumni Weekend, a time-honored tradition held May 6 - 8.
"We sincerely appreciate the unwavering support, year after year, of alumni," said A.L. Fleming, associate vice president for Institutional Advancement and executive director of the SC State University Foundation. "The combined gift donated to the university demonstrates that alumni stand behind their alma mater," Fleming continued.

Alumni Weekend, which is held as part of spring Commencement activities, draws classes celebrating reunions in five-year intervals beginning at 25 years. This year the classes of 1946, 1951, 1956, 1961, 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, and 1991 celebrated their reunion. The class of 1975, which celebrates its reunion every year, participated in Alumni Weekend.

The class of 1966 received special recognition for celebrating 50 years. During commencement ceremony held that Friday evening, each member of the "golden" class was presented a Golden Club Medallion.
Members of the class contributed $155,900, the largest donation contributed that weekend. A portion of the gift helps to fund the Presidential Promise, a newly developed program by President James Clark, which provides need-based financial assistance to SC State students.

Alumni Weekend also marked the "silver" anniversary of the Class of 1991.
