North Carolina A&T State University News April 2, 2018 North Carolina A&T Announces Inaugural Class of Cheatham-White Scholars North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University has awarded the prestigious Cheatham-White Scholarship to 20 of its most academically talented, incoming freshmen. The inaugural class of Cheatham-White Scholars average in the top 15 percent of their graduating high school classes and boast an average GPA of 4.51, SAT score of 1,364 and ACT score of 30. Fifteen scholars hail from North Carolina with the remaining five from Florida, Maryland, Michigan, South Carolina and Texas. "We are excited to welcome this group of bright and talented students to the Aggie family," said Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr. "These scholars were chosen from an exceptional pool of 226 nominees, and we have high expectations for each of them." Named in honor of Henry P. Cheatham - born a slave - and George H. White - the son of a slave - the scholarship is a fully funded four-year award that covers the costs of: tuition, student fees, housing, meals, textbooks, a laptop computer, supplies, travel and personal expenses. Scholarships also provides four summers of fully funded enrichment and networking opportunities that may include international travel and study. It is truly a complete award, meant to recognize academic achievement and potential at the highest levels.
