Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms to Serve as Spelman Commencement Speaker
Keisha Lance Bottoms, the 60th Mayor of Atlanta, will serve as Spelman College's commencement speaker on Sunday, May 19.
During the class of 2019's commencement ceremony, Bottoms will address the 474 graduating seniors at the all-women's, historically Black college, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reportedhttps://www.ajc.com/news/local-education/atlanta-mayor-tapped-give-spelman-commencement-speech/6ERW5IPDLJA47TpxoGEUIP/amp.html. She will also receive the National Community Service Award.
Other award recipients for the day include Dr. Carla Hayden, the 14th Librarian of Congress, who will receive an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree, as well as poet, playwright, professor and activist Sonia Sanchez, who will receive an Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree.
