Academic Libraries in the Accreditation Process - Dr. Pauletta Bracy, North Carolina Central University, Tuesday, April 25, 1:00 ET

Description: This overview of accreditation focuses on the role of libraries in the process.

Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the webinar, participants should be able to:

  1.  Discuss the benefits of accreditation.
    
  2.  Distinguish among the types of accreditation and accreditors.
    
  3.  Describe the typical protocol in the accreditation process.
    
  4.  Interpret standards to meet compliance.
    
  5.  Identify appropriate documentation to support assertions.
    

Instructor: Dr. Pauletta Brown Bracy, a member of the HBCU Alliance Board, is a professor in the School of Library and Information Sciences at North Carolina Central University.  Her teaching areas are school media librarianship and children's and young adult services and resources including ethnic perspectives in children's and young adult literature.  In addition, she serves as director of university accreditation, coordinating all specialized and institutional accreditation at the institution.  She is the current chair of the Coretta Scott King Book Awards Committee.  Her most recent book, co-authored with Sandra Hughes-Hassell and Casey Rawson, is Libraries, Literacy, and African American Youth: Research and Practice (Libraries Unlimited, 2016).
