Fox 24 News October 7, 2016 Fort Valley State appoints new president By Maggie McGlamry Fort Valley State University welcomed their tenth president on Friday. Dr. Paul Jones spent more than three decades in higher education in Colorado, Maryland, Utah and Georgia. Prior to his appointment as President, Jones served two years are interim president at Darton State College in Albany, Ga. Jones said even though there are many challenges ahead at the university, he looks forward to the opportunity. "Well, certainly enrollment has been the greatest challenge," Jones said. "We try to elevate the institution. We need our enrollment to move in the right direction. We've been able to do that the past year so we're excited about where we're going. But that's the first thing we need to stabilize and we believe we've turned the corner in that regard." Jones also stated that the most important thing the university needs to do is continue to focus on how faculty supports engaging students and moving them where they need to be. SANDRA M.
