Invitation to Pre-Conference Session: Empowering HBCU Librarians for the Future of Democracy and Education

Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to invite you to a special pre-conference session, "Let's Talk: Empowering HBCU Librarians for the Future of Democracy and Education," as part of the 2024 Membership Meeting. This session, hosted by EveryLibrary,https://www.everylibraryinstitute.org/report_project_2025?utm_campaign=projectt2025_report_no_state&utm_medium=email&utm_source=votelibraries will take place on September 11, 2024, from 10-11 a.m. ET via Zoom.

In partnership with the HBCU Library Alliance, EveryLibraryhttps://www.everylibraryinstitute.org/ is developing a leadership development series to address the key issues facing HBCU librarians today. John Chrastka, Founder of EveryLibrary, will lead this insightful session, discussing the legislative landscape impacting academic libraries, with a particular focus on the implications of Project 2025.

We will also delve into critical topics such as Values-Aligned Budgeting, Interdepartmental Relationships, the Student-to-Scholar Pipeline, Marketing to Gain Support, Alumni Engagement and Culture Building, and the Leadership Development Series. This session is a chance to share your needs, give feedback on proposed topics, and ask questions about library advocacy.
