Paine College Community welcomes Dr. Marcus D. Tillery as the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs
Dr. George C. Bradley announced today the appointment of Dr. Marcus D. Tillery as the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Tillery formerly served as founding Dean of the School of Applied Science and Technology at Thomas Edison State College. Tillery is skilled in leading and directing the development, implementation and assessment of degree programs and certificates including: Associate in Applied Science, Associate in Science in Applied Science and Technology, Bachelor of Science in Applied Science and Technology, Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and Masters of Science in Applied Science and Technology.
He has served as Professor and Chair, Department of Manufacturing Systems in the School of Technology at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, N.C., where he was responsible for administration and supervision of the Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Systems, Master of Science in Industrial Technology and a consortium Doctor of Philosophy in Technology Management. He began his career in higher education at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana as an Assistant Professor in the Industrial Technology Department with primary teaching and research responsibilities in plastics manufacturing, continuous process improvement and total quality management.
Tillery is a dynamic, visionary leader with 20 years of demonstrated success in teaching, administration, research, and service. He is experienced in the recruitment, hiring, supervision, retention and evaluation of highly productive teams of administrators, faculty and staff. Additionally he has broad business and industry knowledge gained through industrial management and process engineering experience, as well as active board memberships in economic development, regional planning and commerce.
He earned the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in 1985. He received the Masters of Science in Industrial Technology from Iowa State University in 1989 and the Doctorate in Industrial Technology from Iowa State University in 1993.
