Registration for summer camp and swim lessons underway

SC State University is now accepting applications from youth and adults  for two summer programs.

Camp Helps 'Stars' Shine Bright

Now in its fifth year, the University Village All Stars Summer Camp provides a safe environment for youth to explore nature, discover new talents and try new activities. Best of all, the camp helps them to become the best and brightest stars for which they were created.

Campers will have a fun-filled summer participating in activities such as the 1890 Research & Extension cyber safety program, bowling, the I.P. Stanback Museum and Planetarium arts and craft program, swimming, math and English enrichment and cultural studies. Participants will end the summer with a fine arts production on jazz called Take Me Back to Harlem.

Youth, ages 4-13, are eligible to register for the University Village All Stars Camp, which is hosted by the SC State University Real Estate Foundation.  The camp will be held weekdays June 10 - July 15 from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Registration is $400 and includes the cost of food and most activities.

To register or to obtain more information, contact Robyn Perrineau-Kendrick at (803) 516-4443, (803) 516-4442 or rperrin1@scsu.edumailto:rperrin1@scsu.edu.

Youth, ages 4-17, and all adults can make a splash this summer by learning to swim or strengthening their strokes. Swim classes will be held Monday through Thursday June 8 - July 18 at the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center swimming pool. Classes will also feature lessons on water safety. Times for classes vary. Registration is $45.

Adults, ages 18 and up, who are looking to add something new to their fitness routine are encouraged to register for water aerobics classes. These classes will also be held Monday through Thursday from June 8 -  July 24. The one-hour class begins at  6 p.m. and costs $25.
