This is an awesome job opportunity in the Archival Unit of The National Museum of African American History and Culturehttp://nmaahc.si.edu/ (NMAAHC). The position develops and implements the organizational plan and procedures for the archival, photographic, and multimedia collections at NMAAHChttp://nmaahc.si.edu/. The type of experience required is as follows:

Developing and administering archival and record management principles, methods, and procedures in order to catalogue and overseeing the care, restoration, and accessibility of the Museum's photography, film, sound and digital media by and about African Americans.

Duties of the position:

  •      Proposes and implements the NMAAHC organizational plan for archival and photographic collections, video, sound, and various digital media.
    
  •      Develops and implements formal policies and procedures for collections access and consults with museum staff and other parties to ensure security and safekeeping of collections.
    
  •      Plans for the archival treatment of new materials, including their physical care, arrangement, and description for research purposes, and publicizes their presence to users.
    
  •      Organizes, enters, and maintains information concerning collections in the Smithsonian database and other appropriate national and international databases.
    
  •      Manages archives budget, prepares various reports, and provides day-to-day management of the Archives unit, such as coordinating work schedules, and other supervisory duties.
