SU's Peoples receives education group's President's award
Dr. Verjanis Peoples, dean of the College of Education, has received the President's Empowering Leaders in Education award from the Southern University Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa International.
The award cites Peoples for "displaying exemplary service in education by empowering leaders today for tomorrow."
Peoples earned a Ph.D from Kansas State University in the area of Curriculum and Instruction. She received her B.S. and M.S. from Grambling State University. Her research and publications have included articles on violence in schools, curriculum development and issues in multicultural education.
Phi Delta Kappa International is a professional association for educators. PDK is one of the largest education associations in the world and has thousands of members dedicated to improving education, including teachers, principals, superintendents, and higher education faculty and administrators.
