Edward Waters College News January 17, 2019 Edward Waters College Makes History With Groundbreaking New Publications Edward Waters College will launch two peer reviewed, refereed journals Spring 2019, Edward Waters College Journal on Historically Black Colleges and Research Initiatives for Faculty and the Edward Waters College Journal on Research Across the Disciplines. These two new academic journals are the first of their kind produced by the College in its 153 year history. Both journals will be released February 1, 2019 and distributed during the inaugural HBCU Undergraduate Conference on April 5, 2019 at the conference. According to Dr. Monique L. Akassi, Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs and Chief Editor for both journals, "The two journals will be interdisciplinary-refereed journals with an emphasis on research, writing across the curriculum, and writing in the discipline." The journals will be available locally, nationally, and internationally in hard cover or electronically. Journals can also be published online through Amazon, all local libraries, and bookstores, using the official ISBN number for each publication. Select writings are reviewed by a peer reviewed editorial staff, which selects the best critical articles among the genres in writing across the curriculum and in the disciplines written by currently-enrolled undergraduate students and faculty at Edward Waters College and other undergraduates, graduates, and faculty from local, national, and international colleges and universities. Edward Waters College's Editorial Board Members for the peer reviewed refereed journals, will consist of the following faculty and staff members: Dr. Monique L. Akassi, Chief Editor, Dr. Donna H. Oliver, Editor Dr. Anita Mandal, Editor Dr. Prabir Mandal, Editor Dr. Francis Ikeokwu, Editor Dr. Jacqueline Conley, Editor Dr. Kimberly Davis, Editor Mr. Joel Williams, Editor Manuscripts are accepted throughout the year but must be received before the April, December, and August publication release dates. Since Edward Waters College cultivates students' critical thinking, reading, writing, speaking, and research across the disciplines- manuscripts can be in the Modern Language Association standard document style or American Psychological Association format, and should not exceed 25 pages in length-not including tables, graphs, figures, and references-and typed double spaced in 12 point font Times New Roman. However, exceptions may be made for stellar quality. Submissions can be submitted for publication consideration to Dr. Monique Leslie Akassi at M.Akassi@ewc.edu as an attachment. Manuscripts should be original and not submitted to other journals. Manuscripts should include a short bio, cover letter, and contact information. SANDRA M.
