Corporation for Public Broadcasting Gives WSHA $10,000
(Raleigh, NC) - The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has given $10,000 in emergency funds to Shaw University's radio stations, WSHA-FM, to help recover from the damage inflicted by the tornado that struck campus on April 16.
"The Corporation for Public Broadcasting recognizes the historical importance of Shaw University and its radio station," said Gregory W. Shnirring, Vice President, CPB Radio in a letter to Shaw President Dr. Irma McClaurin. "WSHA has provided valuable community service to Shaw University and the Raleigh community."
"WSHA is a critical component of Shaw, and its continued operation was a priority from the time the storm struck," said Dr. McClaurin. "This money helps complete that process and ensure that WSHA is not simply ready to broadcast today, but for decades to come."
The monies must be used to fund repairs to the station in the aftermath of the storm.
