Alumna Named New Senior Director of Alumni Affairs at FSU
YaKima S. Rhinehart, a 1996 graduate of Fayetteville State University (FSU), has been named the Senior Director of Alumni Affairs at her alma mater. Rhinehart's appointment was announced today by Chancellor James A. Anderson.
"We were extremely fortunate to find someone of Ms. Rhinehart's caliber," said Chancellor James A. Anderson. "In searching for a Senior Director of Alumni Affairs, our goal was to identify someone who could complement our active alumni and at the same time engage our young and inactive alumni. We believe we have found that in Ms. Rhinehart. We are excited to have her back with her Bronco family and we are confident in her ability to move the Office of Alumni Affairs forward."
As Senior Director of Alumni Affairs, Rhinehart will be responsible for the planning and implementation of programs and projects that strategically engage alumni in strengthening programs and provide tangible benefits to alumni and current students. She will also create and maintain pathways for alumni participation that advance the goals of the university. She will work closely with the Office of Development to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward alumni giving and serve as a liaison between the university and the National Alumni Association and its chapters. Rhinehart will report to Getchel L. Caldwell, Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement, and will be a senior member of the Advancement team.
"We are excited to welcome Ms. Rhinehart as our new Senior Director of Alumni Affairs," Caldwell said. "Our students and alumni are our greatest asset and we must find new ways of engaging, stewarding and growing alumni involvement and participation with the University and its many programs. She is a welcome addition to the Institutional Advancement management corps and brings great skill sets as FSU continues to grow its vital alumni programming."
Prior to FSU, Rhinehart served as Executive Director of College Summit-South Carolina, the nation's largest non-profit dedicated to transforming the lives of low-income youth by connecting them to colleges and careers. Rhinehart was instrumental in launching sites in both St. Louis and New York. Rhinehart also has extensive experience in radio, having worked as a News and Public Information/Promotions Director at radio stations in North Charleston, S.C. She has also worked as the Special Assistant for Public Policy at the Association of Community College Trustees in Washington, D.C., and as the Assistant Director of Cultural Programs at the College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C.
A native of Charleston, S.C., Rhinehart received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech & Theater/Communications from FSU. She is also a candidate for a Master of Education in Education Leadership from Concordia University in Portland, Oregon.
FSU is a constituent institution of The University of North Carolina and the second-oldest public institution of higher education in the state. FSU offers nearly 60 degrees at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. With more than 5,000 students, Fayetteville State University is among the most diverse institutions in the nation.
