Bostick Named Vice President of Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness

Howard University has named Carrolyn J. Bostick as vice president of human resources and organizational effectiveness, effective March 2. Bostick joins Howard from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where she serves as assistant administrator for human resource management.
"We are excited to have Ms. Bostick join the Howard University team as Vice President of Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness," said Dr. Wayne A.I. Frederick, president of Howard University. "The new title of this leadership position indicates a significantly broadened scope, which includes optimizing and streamlining organizational effectiveness to reinforce our movement toward a more strategic HR function at the University. We also expect to continue our aggressive pursuit to attract and retain the nation's best talent to assure flawless execution of the University's mission
For nearly three years, Bostick has served as assistant administrator for human resource management, responsible for a strategic partnership with FAA leadership and for human resource (HR) support of over 46,000 employees. Bostick provided executive leadership over HR programs and policies, operations, employee and labor relations, corporate learning and development, employee safety and workers' compensation.
Before joining the FAA, Bostick was the vice president of human resources and talent management at Intelsat, a leading provider of fixed satellite services worldwide. She was directly responsible for global HR policy and processes. She notably transformed the Intelsat HR practice from an administrative role to strategic business partner. Additional experience at Intelsat included management of the total rewards program, implementation of performance based compensation and establishment of a global leadership academy.
Bostick also held HR leadership positions at Potomac Electric Power Company (PEPCO), U.S. Fidelity and Guaranty Insurance Company (USF&G), the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), and the Student Loan Marketing Association (SallieMae).
Bostick is a graduate of Howard University with an M.A in Organization Communication. She also holds a B.A. in Communications from Ambassador College.
