I trust you're well. Today I'm celebrating Rebecca Cole, born on March 16, 1846 in Pennsylvania. Cole was the second United States African American woman physician and the first African American woman to graduate from the Woman's Medical College in Pennsylvania.

This one-hour webinar will discuss writing grant proposals for your library. It will begin by defining grants and where to seek funding opportunities. It will continue by presenting ways in which you may prepare to write a successful grant proposal and suggestions on how to write goals and objectives as well as a few examples. Finally it will provide links to some resources on grant writing for further information.
Cynthia Henderson, Executive Director of the Louis Stokes Health Sciences Library, Howard University (DC) is presenting this webinar. She supervises 4 senior librarians and an executive assistant. Cynthia is accountable for the Library's staff of 16 including 8 librarians, 1 executive assistant, and 7 library technicians.
By the end of this webinar, participants should be able to:
Define and discuss grants and proposal writing
Know the names of at least three funding agencies
Know the name(s) of their sponsored programs person(s) on campus
Know the components of a good goal

Ivy Brannen is teaching this webinar and began working at Savannah State University as an Administrative Assistant in 2007. In 2008, she received an academic scholarship to attend the University of North Texas where she received her master's in Library and Information Science.
