Subject: Request for research assistance

Hello Ms. Phoenix,

My name is Dr. Jeff Golden and I teach criminal justice at Saint Leo University in Florida.  I am collaborating with Dr. Adonijah Bakari, Director of Africana Studies at Middle Tennessee State University on the developlment of a course titled "The African American Criminal Justice Experience".  The course will present an overview of how the American criminal justice system treated and impacted African Americans from slavery to the present.

We have found that book and journal research is defined by period (e.g., slavery, post-antebellum, modern, etc.) and are surprised to not find any publications that examines the African American experience in the criminal justice system in a comprehensive manner.  Perhaps this has been too large a task for any author(s), however, we believe our overview course is novel and needed.

Toward that end, we are asking if the HBCU Library Alliance can assist us in any manner to search for such a comprehensive publication.  Might you have the ability to contact all HBCU libraries with a specific request or can we do so without having to contact each library individually?

Kind thanks,

Jeff Golden, M.S., J.D.
