Alumni Couple Honored by the University of Georgia
Alabama State University alumni Drs. Johnny and Rubye Coleman-Sanders are being honored by the University of Georgia.

Dr. Johnny Sanders and wife Dr. Rubye Coleman-Sanders, who were honored for establishing an education scholarship fund at ASU, are being recognized by the University of Georgia's College of Education for their career achievements and leadership at that school.
The couple graduated from Alabama State University with bachelor's degrees in teacher education and was honored in December by ASU President Quinton T. Ross Jr. for creating the "Dr. Johnny Sanders, Jr., and Dr. Rubye Coleman-Sanders Teacher Education Scholarship Fund" which will provide financial support for a first-generation under-represented junior or senior undergraduate student who has been admitted to the teacher education program in the ASU College of Education.
Now, the University of Georgia (UGA), where each received a doctorate degree in education, is awarding each of them with a Distinguished Alumni Award for their "service, contributions and accomplishments,"  which have brought "distinction and honor" to the UGA College of Education.
The Sanders are among six UGA graduates being honored with this award.
