TASC Contributes Major Gift To UNCF North Alabama Joint Campaign
TASC, Inc., an advanced systems engineering and integration firm that supports the Department of Defense and other federal agencies, presented a check for $10,000 to the UNCF North Alabama Joint Campaign. The generous gift was a boost for the recent kickoff of the 2010-2011 campaign year, and one that campaign members hope will send a message of encouragement to other area businesses to consider supporting higher education through philanthropic giving.
TASC officials made the presentation on Thursday, October 14, on the campus of Oakwood University, the only UNCF member institution in North Alabama. Oakwood University administrators and students, UNCF Committee members, and representatives from the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce, as well as the City of Huntsville, were in attendance. TASC officials, including Patrick Talty, Vice President, Mission Engineering Business Unit, and Michael Cox, Director of Missile Defense for TASC in Huntsville, personally hand-delivered the gift following a meeting with Oakwood University administrators and UNCF North Alabama Joint Campaign committee representatives.
“TASC strives to be a good corporate citizen, especially in the communities where our employees live and work,” stated Pat Talty. “Through employee volunteerism and corporate donations, TASC is proud and pleased to support many different organizations that make a real difference,” Talty added.
Cheri Wilson, Oakwood’s Director of Development and UNCF North Alabama Joint Campaign Coordinator, indicated that funds received will definitely make a difference in the lives of the students who become UNCF scholarship recipients. Student scholarship funding is the founding purpose of UNCF.
Established in 1966, TASC is the premier, non-conflicted provider of advanced systems engineering, integration and decision-support services to the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense and civilian agencies of the federal government. A unit of Northrop Grumman Corporation from 2001 to 2009, TASC became an independent company in December 2009. With 5,000 employees in 38 locations, TASC generates more than $1.6 billion in annual revenue.
