Chevron makes $250,000 donation to Tuskegee University

Tuskegee University accepted a $250,000 gift from Chevron Monday during the 20th Annual Tuskegee University Business and Engineering Conference. The company and the university have shared a long-time educational and professional partnership and the donation is part of continuing that relationship. The company also gave an additional $5,000 to sponsor an engineering ceremony for the conference.

"We are very pleased that Chevron is continuing its long partnership with Tuskegee University. This gift will not only further cement this partnership but will assist Chevron's efforts in increasing the amount of Tuskegee engineers it employs, which of course directly benefits the job placement rate for the College of Engineering; job placement is an essential program outcome that the college will no doubt thrive at," said Tuskegee University president, Dr. Brian L. Johnson.

Telisa Toliver, senior vice president for Chevron Pipe Line Company at Chevron and a Tuskegee alumna, said her company believes in creating lasting partnerships that help create prosperity in the workforce and communities where they operate.

"We place a high value on our partnership with Tuskegee University as it demonstrates our commitment to hire the best and the brightest. Our relationship with Tuskegee University also supports our efforts to partner with institutions that are increasing the pipeline of student candidates who have studied STEM disciplines and ultimately will make a significant contribution to the technically proficient global workforce in the oil and gas industry," Toliver said

"Tuskegee University relishes the partnership with Chevron. The talent they receive meets their critical customer needs and continues to make the College of Engineering proud," said Dr. Legand Burge, dean of the college.
