NEH Research Grants Available

for Faculty at Historically Black Colleges and Universities

The National Endowment for the Humanities, a federal agency in Washington, D.C., offers grants to individual faculty at Historically Black Colleges and Universities who seek to conduct scholarly research projects in the humanities.

The 2017 application deadline is April 12, for projects beginning in 2018 and 2019.  NEH staff will provide feedback on draft proposals received by Wednesday, March 1.
Projects should involve research that is of value to scholars, general audiences, or students in the humanities.  Eligible projects include research in primary and secondary materials and result in articles, monographs, books, digital materials, archaeological site reports, translations, editions, or other scholarly resources.

Activities might also include research leading to the improvement of an existing undergraduate course or research related to the goals and interests of the institution or community.

The awards support the equivalent of two to twelve months of full-time work and carry a stipend of $4,200 per month.
